There's No Crying In Baseball!

I owe you guys a real post. I started one earlier today, but I need to work on some other writing this weekend. I promise you all something before I disappear for another vacation on Tuesday (yes, I'll be off line for the trading deadline--not my idea). Normally I wouldn't even waste your time with a quickie like this, but I have two things I just have to say:

1) The Yankees are 9.5 games ahead of the Red Sox in the AL East. 9.5!

2) Alex Rodriguez came through with a game-winning double to drop the Sox in the opener in Fenway tonight 8-7 after the Yanks roughed up Curt Schilling for seven runs on ten hits in 5 1/3 innings. More importantly, the Yankees made Curt Schilling cry, prompting my girlfriend to declare him "a big weenie pants." Doesn't he know there's no crying in baseball? A glorious victory for the Evil Empire.

Speaking of which, as part of my day job I edited the update of The Curse of the Bambino (more on that closer to its September pub date). We got the finished books in this week and Dan Shaughnessy got his copies just before Friday's game. Coincidence? Yeah, pretty much.
